Abstract
The present article intends to address the written production by two Latin American intelectuals: the ecuadorian Agustín Cueva and the bolivian René Zavaleta. It will be exposed, in a comparative key, this two marxists and anti colonialist authors, whose thinking represents a legacy for Latin American Social Theory. While geographical origin is the Andean area, the formation of their thoughts is crossed by a life of travel and exile throughout the region, as well as its political and academic commitments. Therefore, we intend to contrast their life trajectories and intellectuals in order to analyze their thinking from two analytical axes: first, the interpretation keys that they provide about the ways of production and construction of knowledge, guided by the contributions of the marxist theory but located in Latin America; on the other hand, the definition of the State, and its inscription in discussions on the modes of production, social formations and autonomy of the political.
