Abstract
The work presented here will attempt to reconstruct, from the thought of Hermann Cohen, his perspective on the universality and the messianic ideal. Based on the correlation between God and man the article will develop a sense of connection with others, the universality of the law and a sense of consecration messianic kingdom of God. The importance of messianic thought lies on its ability to articulate the catego- ries of Jewish philosophy. On one hand, through the development of the thought of Cohen a Jewish political theology will be constructed, which contributes to the contemporary debate on this issue. On the other hand, the analysis of messianic will allow us to establish those key concepts that have been left as a legacy in modern Jewish thought, specifically in the works of Franz Rosenzweig and Emmanuel Levinas.
