Abstract

In this essay it is proposed a lecture of the works of Simone Weil through two concepts: malheur (disgrace) and the “need for roots”. From these, two dimensions are to be distinguished. The first part of the article, called the “mystic dimension”, revolves around the concept of “decreation”. The second part, called the “political dimension”, is about the concept of the “need for roots”. From these concepts, others can be observed, like “obligation”, which shows the constant desire to be in the side of the homeless and the oppressed, seeking the way to leave of the comfortable double morals —public and private—, that is able live quiet while around there is a environment of hunger, sadness, loneliness, sickness, exploitation and misery.
