Abstract

In this article the authors make a critical reflection about the importance of citizen’s participation as the process that contributes to the democratization of the State’s administration. Observing the advantages that participation brings for the generation of a new State-society relationship, the authors study the participative budgets as an instrument of materialization of those advantages, and propose concrete dimensions of analysis, to determine which is the real degree of contribution to the democratization of society.
