Abstract

This paper analyzes the role of the Security Council in collective action, under the scope of its relation with state sovereignty and national interest. As a hypothesis it is said that the Council has become more influenced by state soverignty. The main argument refers to the relation between the Security Council and national interest: states are the founders of the UN, but at the same time, they are the main obstacle for the devolepment of this organizations. To analyze this relation, some cases will be observed and it will be concluded that the Council has fomented integration between states and collective action.
